BW 2, Trebeltal Bridge West, A 20

Short description

Structure BW 2 of the Trebel Valley Crossing on the A20 is part of the replacement project in the area of the moor near Tribsee. It consists of a bridge approximately 537 meters long, which was constructed as part of the rehabilitation of the embankment section that was no longer structurally sound. Together with other structural elements, it forms the longest valley bridge in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The project

Soil engineering reports have shown that the entire embankment, spanning nearly 800 meters, is no longer structurally sound in the long term. It will be removed and replaced by three separate structures. The first structure is a 216-meter-long slab foundation that connects to the existing roadway from the west. This is followed by a 537-meter-long bridge. East of the existing Trebeltal Bridge, a third bridge, 75 meters long, will be built, as part of the foundation there was also constructed using the CSV method. No damage has occurred there to date. As part of the full closure that has already taken place, this section will be renovated “as a precautionary measure” at the same time.

For the new crossing over the marsh near Tribsee, conventional foundations will be constructed similar to those of the Trebeltal Bridge. This section is not affected by the settlement. When completed, the entire structure will be the longest valley bridge in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with a total length of nearly 1,500 meters. Repair work on the roadway in the direction of Rostock/Lübeck began on August 19, 2019.
