LNG Tank Lysekil

Short description

In Lysekil on the west coast of Sweden, approx. 60 km north of Gothenburg, the currently largest LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving terminal in Scandinavia was built on behalf of Skangass.

The project

Skangass delivers up to 200,000 t of LNG per year to the neighboring Preem refinery via the terminal. The terminal received both an integrated truck loading facility for easy onward transport of the LNG inland and a facility for refueling ships with LNG as fuel. The pre-tensioning of the concrete tank surrounding the steel tank was carried out by means of horizontal tendons BBV L19, which each run over half the tank circumference and are anchored to pilaster strips, and vertical loop tendons BBV L9.

The LNG terminal was commissioned in 2012.
