Kaufland Biberach an der Riss

Short description

In the run-up to the repair of the beams of the department store, a conventional repair of the exposed parking deck (10,500 m2) was already carried out.

The project

In the pre-fabricated sales building in 1994/95 with three different department stores with a floor area of 11,800 m2, the flat roof was designed as an open parking deck with 355 parking spaces.

The drainage channels of the parking deck run directly over the beam axes. In the course of time, the joints became leaky, so that the meltwater, which was loaded with salt, dripped directly onto the joists and was able to penetrate the horizontal support surfaces of the consoles.

The chloride profiles determined by means of drilling dust samples showed that the critical chloride content had already been clearly exceeded. The reinforcement of the beams was repaired in the sales rooms with ongoing operation using the repair principle K "cathodic corrosion protection".

Due to the boundary conditions, only discrete titanium rod anodes (3,000 pieces) with an active length of 40 cm were used here.
