The Langer Grund viaduct on the A44 interstate highway is approximately 260 m long, 31.05 m wide, and about 25 m high.
The two superstructures were designed as double-web plate girders and constructed using a sliding formwork system.
A total of 360 BBV L15i tendons, comprising approximately 300 metric tons of prestressing steel, were installed, prestressed, and grouted for the structure.
The tendons were prefabricated at the factory in Bobenheim-Roxheim and then installed on site by the company’s own specialized personnel. The chosen construction method resulted in a high-performance and durable bridge structure for highway traffic.
