Support Foundation Beam & Slab - Stuttgart 21 PFA 1.1 VE 1

In conjunction with construction of the new underground train station ‘Stuttgart 21’, a large part of the original train station building ‘Reichbahndirektion’ in the Heilbronner Street had to be removed.

When the project works are completed the remaining section of the original building, will be located directly over the new northern tunnel. In order to realize the construction of the northern tunnel of the project, up to 50% of the existing building was required to be extensively underpinned.

Underpinning of the existing building were performed using a 1,35m thick reinforced concrete slab incorporating post tensioned tendons placed on pile supports.  Strand Tendons: 96 Tendons - BBV L31 (ca. 100t post tensioning steel) and  Bar Tendons : 1164 x Bars 26,5mm
