TG Finanzamt Mannheim

Short description

The underground car park is located in the basement of the building and has two congruent levels.

The project

Location and access

The massive underground car park is part of the administrative building of the Mannheim tax office and was completed in the mid-1960s. It is located in the so-called squares (L 3) of the city of Mannheim.

The construction

The underground car park is located in the basement of the building and has two congruent levels. The park structure has an access ramp and an exit ramp to the surrounding area via an entrance to the lowest underground level. Most of the underground car park is built-over, with the exception of a small inner courtyard and a surrounding arcade corridor. The load transfer in the underground car park takes place via reinforced concrete supports and walls. The base plate is a load-bearing component.

Redevelopment concept

The damage to the base surfaces was comparatively minor. However, as the concrete technology investigations have shown, there was a high risk of corrosion in many areas. The wall and support base surfaces are statically heavily loaded. Therefore, a classic repair / concrete removal with extensive support measures was dispensed with and instead the support and wall base surfaces were protected by means of cathodic corrosion protection (=> repair principle K).
